ASVAB Word Knowledge Practice Test
Word Knowledge tests your vocabulary. Most questions ask for the word closest in meaning to a given word, either on its own or used in a sentence; a few ask for the opposite meaning. Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension together form the verbal part of your AFQT score, which counts double.

Tips for Word Knowledge
- Learn common prefixes, suffixes and roots (for example "bene-" means good, "mal-" means bad).
- When the word appears in a sentence, use the context to decide whether it is positive or negative.
- Eliminate choices that are opposites of the word or that only sound similar.
- Read every day. Short daily vocabulary practice beats cramming.
