English has already established itself as a sort of a world language, meaning that it’s necessary to understand English in both talking and writing to get around easier wherever you go. Vocabulary is often more important in real life applications, and it’s easier to learn it, or understand it. All you got to do is read, read and again, read, repeat. To make this easier, the ASVAB vocabulary has been formed trying to give a better test of the vocabulary of anyone who wishes to do it.

How Can You Improve Your ASVAB Vocabulary?

If you would like to improve your ASVAB vocabulary, you can visit Google’s search page and type in the term ‘ASVAB test’. Chances are you will soon encounter what the term ASVAB stands for, but we will mention it anyway; it stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. The tests you will encounter by using the Google’s search page are usually free and short, giving you a general idea of the ASVAB vocabulary test. You will notice that the new words you encounter will make you think about them harder than you would than facing some new words in a movie or a show. You will have several radio buttons, meaning that there will be only one correct solution. The format of this test consists of a word in the title, after which the five radio button options follow, giving you the chance to choose the right one. Once you solve all of the words in your free test, you will be introduced to your results by clicking the ‘Finish’ test or something of that type. You can review your ASVAB vocabulary test results, learning by the methods of trial and error.

Commercial ASVAB Vocabulary Tests

Other than the free ASVAB vocabulary tests, you can get full-featured tests online as well, mostly giving you the options to either print their tests and solve them when you want in your own privacy, meaning you will be offline, but there are also ASVAB vocabulary tests which can be solved on the go, online. These are pretty much similar to the intelligence tests found online. As much as these intelligence tests have not proved to be very exact, with this ASVAB study guide and vocabulary tests, results can be quite accurate and trustworthy. The paid tests are generally longer and have been assembled by professionals, so perhaps paying a smaller fee for your ASVAB vocabulary test is not such a bad idea in the long run.

Preparing Yourself For The ASVAB Vocabulary Test

Any vocabulary can be learned by reading books, watching TV shows and translating to the language in interest. Since these ASVAB vocabulary tests are quite specific, it’s important to follow a specific educational program which will help you to pass any ASVAB vocabulary test out there. You can order books online which introduce you to the entire ASVAB concept and prepare you properly for passing the ASVAB vocabulary test. Every test needs proper preparation, and there probably isn’t a better method to prepare for the ASVAB test than these online free tests and dedicated books and tutorials.

If you’re living in the USA, you’ve probably heard the term “ASVAB test” sometime during your life. ASVAB is an acronym for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, and it’s basically a test which can determine what kind of skills you have, and which US military branch you might fit in best. The test itself offers multiple answers for questions in different categories. The ASVAB test basically tests things like your world knowledge, arithmetic and mathematic skills, mechanical and assembly comprehension, and finally your knowledge about electronic systems in general. It’s actually an optional test, and you don’t really need to take it, but it is always used when an individual wishes to join any of the United States Military branches. Today, we’re going to give you a few tips on how to pass the ASVAB test.

How To Pass The ASVAB?

Knowing Your Weaknesses

The first tip on how to pass the ASVAB is to know and strengthen your own weaknesses as much as possible. As we’ve already mentioned, the test covers multiple broad subjects, but no one really expects for everyone to excel in every area of the test. But if you’re aiming for a particular military branch or position, having knowledge related to that branch is definitely an advantage, and you basically know how to pass the ASVAB with that goal in mind. For example, if you wish to join the US Navy, you should research about what skills are required in the Navy. Generally speaking, naval officers must have a high level of mathematic and arithmetic knowledge, due to required navigational skills while out on the sea. This is just a very basic example, so if you’re weak in mathematics and still wish to join the Navy, you should now know how to pass the ASVAB. Simply practice and get better in an area you consider to be weak in.

Online Practice Tests And Guidebooks

If you want to know how to pass the ASVAB without uncertainty, preparing for the test beforehand is actually the best way to go. There are many online sites offering various ASVAB practice texts, and even offer optional ASVAB guidebooks with detailed information about many subjects. Keep in mind that these tests are not official ASVAB tests, but they will help you learn how to pass the ASVAB official tests. It is important to mention that a typical online ASVAB test takes up about an hour and a half of your time, so plan your free time accordingly. There are many different online tests that will help you learn how to pass the ASVAB, and it is actually beneficial to try as many of them as you can.

Be Confident, There is No Real Pressure

Knowing how to pass the ASVAB is not the same as knowing how to pass a mandatory test in school or college. As we’ve already mentioned before, the ASVAB is an optional test, and actually has no penalties for not passing. Well, there is one penalty if you don’t know how to pass the ASVAB – you will not get admitted into a military branch. So if your goal is to work and live a military life, learn as much as you can by following our guidelines on how to pass the ASVAB.

The scores from the ASVAB test are not a real measurement of your intellect. Usually, there are neither right answers nor wrong answers on the questions that you will find in the test. The test is usually an indicator of an aspiring candidate’s strengths or weaknesses. ASVAB tutoring can help you prepare yourself for the test, and to not be preoccupied with the test score. The right ASVAB tutoring can help a person to better understand the subjects, included in the ASVAB test. For example, better knowledge of the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering can mean better employment opportunities, outside of the US military service. Going through ASVAB tutoring, you will be better prepared, and you will gain insight of what you need to improve in your understanding of certain things. It is also good to refresh your vocabulary. People who have not taken a test in a long time have surely forgotten how stressful it is.
Where To Find an ASVAB Tutoring Service

When you look for an ASVAB tutoring service, browse the internet. You will surely find an ASVAB tutoring service that suits you. Most ASVAB tutoring is conducted in person, or online. Some people prefer online ASVAB tutoring, for the banal reason of conflicting schedules. They simply cannot get coordinated with their tutor. Online tutoring gives them a certain degree of flexibility. Some applicants, on the other hand, think that it is easier for ASVAB tutoring to be carried out in person. They feel that it is easier for them to process the information that way. You can also buy some computer software, and tutor yourself at a pace of your determination.

How Much Will It Cost Me?

ASVAB tutoring varies in cost. For you to choose the best ASVAB tutoring service, it is helpful to browse the internet, come up with a few options. Determine the average price of the ASVAB tutoring services you found, and then conclude on a reasonable price, of course, according to your financial power. If you are considering tutoring in person, it is useful to do some research on possible tutors, their experience, reviews from previous students (if available), and find some information about their hourly rates. Also, the length of a single session may also affect the price. Online ASVAB tutoring is usually less expensive. Stepping stone tutors offer prices from $35/h for tutoring in person, and $27/h for online ASVAB tutoring.

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a test organised by the American Department of Defence and its main goal is to evaluate a persons performances and his/her eligibility for a military career in the US Army. So, if you want to join the US military maybe it would be a good thing to start learning about the ASVAB test and the ASVAB test dates. But the ASVAB is more than just a military test. It allows you to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses. The reason because this test is so popular is its versatility and thoroughness. It enables employers and college admissions to appraise the abilities of the candidates. That’s why many high schools throughout the US are setting ASVAB test dates and are encouraging their students to take the test no matter if they are not interested in a military career. Even though, the testing is organised by the Department of Defence, the schools are in charge of the ASVAB test dates.

ASVAB Test Dates in High Schools

There are many locations where you can take the ASVAB test and most of them have different ASVAB test dates. Besides high schools, many military facilities enable you to take the ASVAB test, offering different ASVAB test dates. Public schools usually organise the tests in their test centres where other tests such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the American College Test are also taken. There are usually not many ASVAB test dates in one school, during one calendar year. Most of them organise the test only once, usually at the end of year, or at the begging of a new year. For example, East Hartford Public Schools held the ASVAB test on the 17th of November 2011, while the Dickinson Catholic Schools held it on the 3rd of December. In some schools are of the students are obliged to take the test in order for the schools to have a better insight in their performance in various areas. However, most public schools don’t influence on, or encourage their children to join the military.

Categories of the ASVAB Test

After learning about the ASVAB test dates you should know something more about the content of the test. The number of categories in the test varied, at the moment there are 8 categories in the ASVAB test: General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Auto and Shop Information, Mathematics Knowledge, Mechanical Comprehension and Electronics Information. The duration of each part of the test may vary from less than 10, up to 36 minutes for Arithmetic Reasoning. The total test is 3 hours long. You should know that testing centres don’t provide different ASVAB test dates, i.e. you are supposed to take the test on one date. The ASVAB test dates may be more important than you think, since the test lasts for 3 years after which you are obliged to take the test again if you want the results to be valid.

Ways of Taking The ASVAB Test

You should know that besides high schools, which set their ASVAB test dates themselves, usually only for their students, you have other possibilities of taking the ASVAB test if you are not a high school student. The Mobile Examination Team schedules different ASVAB test dates throughout the year. Many candidates for a military career take the computerised version of the test. There are no definite ASVAB test dates for this version.

ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a test carried out by the US military. It is used to determine a person’s eligibility to enroll in the United States of America army. Students, who are taking the ASVAB, usually intend to enlist the army. ASVAB scores and military jobs are closely related, simply because your scores determine what jobs in the US military you are eligible for.

Importance of ASVAB scores and military jobs

As we said before, ASVAB scores and military jobs depend on each other, because with this test the army can decide in which position the candidate will be most suitable to serve. One of the main points, like in every test is to score the highest results by selecting right and wrong answers, but the candidate should have the highest results regarding the rest of the candidates. This is done in order to define the most suitable job position or military branch for the candidate. In other words, highest scores mean having an outstanding percent against other recruits. Strictly defined ASVAB scores and military jobs defined by these results apply as a rule for every military branch. In conclusion, we define that recruits with higher scores on the ASVAB test will have more chances of promotion later in their career. As an example for ASVAB scores and military jobs in the Navy or Coast guard, we will try to describe a test. The test consists of subsections (sub questions) from the field of mathematics and auto and shop information. If the score is equal or greater than 96, the recruit qualifies for the position of engineman.

Getting higher ASVAB scores and better military jobs tips

In order to achieve the highest ASVAB scores and military jobs well suited to your ideal work position, some tips will be provided. There are several subsections of the test like WK (word knowledge), PC (paragraph comprehension), AR (arithmetic reasoning), and MK (mathematical knowledge). These subsections compose AFQT (Armed Forces Qualification Tests), which represent the main factor for recruiting. These tests are actually basic tests with numbers and words, just to see the recruits’ literacy. ASVAB tests also measure your technical abilities, by conducting tests like GS (general science), EI (electronics information), MC (mechanical comprehension), AI (auto information), SI (shop information), and AO (assembling objects). There are many ASVAB scores and military jobs practical guides available on various websites. It is an obligation to the recruit to prepare for the ASVAB test. Do not underestimate the test. Practicing at the comfort of your home is essential. First, obtain the tests from the three versions that exist: computer adaptive version, paper base version and the paper based student exam, which is conducted in high schools. The next thing is to review your algebra, arithmetic, and geometry skills. Beware that calculators are not allowed during the exam. You should know how to multiply or divide in your head, or by writing down all the steps on paper. Your vocabulary skills are also very important. Try building up your vocabulary. First, you must know what you want from your military career. If you do not want a job in the technical field, focus on your high school science and shop classes. The last thing to do is practice with the actual time conditions. If the recruit sticks up to these tips, getting higher ASVAB scores and military jobs suited to you, is inevitable.

Special Programs and Benefits

There are some cases where desired ASVAB scores and military jobs are not accomplished at the first exam. Do not get disappointed on your ASVAB scores and military jobs application. You will have another chance or even better, you can participate in some of the incentive programs. Let us say that you scored 50 on the ASVAB test. With this result, you are eligible for the Navy college fund or the Marine Corps college fund. Regarding your result on ASVAB scores and military jobs exam, you can retake the exam, if you are not satisfied with the special programs and benefits.

If you are interested about a career in the US military, then you should consider taking the ASVAB test. ASVAB stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. There are few things you should now about ASVAB in general. Taking this test provides the military authorities about your abilities and shows them whether you are, or aren’t, capable of joining the army and performing all the tasks a soldier should perform. The test is consisted of 9 sections, but it is considered that four areas are most important and they influence the results of ASVAB in general the most. There are many organisations included in the preparations for the test and its execution, but the Department of Defence, or to be more precise the United States Military Entrance Processing Command deals with ASVAB in general.

The Concept of the ASVAB Test

After you pass the ASVAB test you are able to join the US Army. Different branches of the US Army, such as Navy, Marines and Air Force, require different score results from the candidates and different skills to be developed in order to be able to fulfil the proper tasks. The results are calculated with combination of the nine categories. In the past, ASVAB had 5 categories, now it has 9. While in the past a candidate would take ASVAB in General Information, now that section is divided to ASVAB in General Science and ASVAB in Word Knowledge. The technique of computing the results is based on the performances of all candidates taking the test, so if you have an overall score of 55% it means that you scored better than 55% of the candidates taking the test. ASVAB in general is simply to any other the test, the difference being that it is specially designed for US military purposes.

Categories and areas in the ASVAB test

If you already know which branch of the military you want to join, you should know the specific requirements for your profession and focus more on that area. For example, let’s say that you want to join the Air Force. There are four score fields which are combined from the ASVAB sub-test categories. The Mechanical Aptitude Score is based on the results of the ASVAB in General Science, Mechanical Comprehension and Auto/Shop. If you want to have a high score in your Air Force ASVAB in General Aptitude, you will have to focus on Arithmetical Reasoning and Verbal Expression. The Army section has 10 composite scores; each consisted of one or more ASVAB sub-tests. For example, the Army ASVAB in General Maintenance is consisted of the results from General Science, Auto/Shop, Mathematical Knowledge and Electronic Information.

General Science is very important for becoming a US marine

Let us say that you want to become a US marine. There are many jobs in the Marine Corps and the scores on your ASVAB test. Most of the jobs are suitable to one of the three categories. And your eligibility in each of them depends on your performance on the test. Your score in ASVAB in General Science would influence the MM category, i.e. the ASVAB in General Maintenance, Construction, Utility and Chemical Maintenance. The ASVAB in General Science would also influence the EL (Electronics) category, so as you can see General Science is very important if you want to become a marine.

There are many great reasons to join the military.

Some of those reasons include:

Financial reasons

Full-time employment

Learning new skills

Service for your country

Family tradition of service

Sense of camaraderie

No qualifications to join

Because of the rough economy, paying bills and supporting a family has become difficult. By joining the military, many of those financial issues subside. The military often provides housing, medical benefits and other assistance, releasing you of the burden of trying to figure out where your next dollar will come from.

And because recruitment for the military has dropped significantly, they are upping the compensation that you receive if you decide to enlist. When you do enlist, it is full-time employment just like a regular job. One of the greatest things about joining the military is that it allows you the opportunity to learn a new skill. Many of the jobs offered through the military are not your average, everyday jobs or jobs that you may have even considered doing in the past.

For many people, there is a strong sense of citizenship and pride about the country they live in, which means they want to stand up and fight for the freedoms of others and the safety of the United States. Especially after the events of September 11th, more and more people are feeling that strong connection with their country and their desire to defend it at all costs.

For some people, joining the military is a family tradition. If your father, grandfather, uncle or brother enlisted in the military, it makes sense that you would want to follow in their footsteps. When you join the military, something very special happens—you are no longer just one person fighting for a cause or doing a job. Now you are part of a group of people, all working for a common cause.

This creates a tremendous sense of camaraderie, unlike anything you will find in other jobs. Finally, you do not need a fancy degree or even straight A’s to join the military. The ASVAB—Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery—tests you on a number of different subjects to find out where your abilities are best suited.
